    Ground Source Heat Pumps

A ground source heat pump harnesses the natural heat of the planet to keep your home warm and give you hot water.

These systems work all year round and you can set the temperature you’d like in your home on a thermostat or via a smart app.

How do ground source heat pumps work?

A series of pipes are laid in the ground in a two-metre-deep horizontal trench or a 100-metre deep vertical borehole.

The ground has a constant temperature of around 10C all year round at these depths.

Refrigerant fluid is circulated in these pipes, and it absorbs thermal energy from the ground. That’s passed through a compressor and heat exchanger and the heat is transferred to radiators, hot water cylinders, or underfloor heating.

Once that heat has been lost by the refrigerant, the process begins again, providing constant heat. The best news is that once installation is complete, the ground source heat pump system won’t be visible in your garden.

Heatforce’s expert consultants will help you with:

    • Design of your new heat pump system
